Our Creative Learning program
Centrestage is for anyone- regardless of age, background or experience. Everyone can participate in the arts at Centrestage. All classes and activities work towards performances staged in the Centrestage Theatre and all productions are created in-house, with all performers coming from members of our diverse community. Please see the diverse range of classes we offer below or simply call 01563 551505 or email a member of the team for more information.
Centrestage offers music theatre classes for all ages, making up a large proportion of our class timetable. In addition to our large scale productions, all music theatre classes work towards regular themed cabaret performance through out the year, which gives each participant the opportunity to perform solo regardless of age, background or experience. There is no audition to join any class. Each of our Music Theatre classes have the opportunity to stage at least one full musical per year. Recent productions have included The Witches of Eastwick, West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar, Anything Goes, Chess, Beauty and the Beast, High School Musical, Aladdin, Mulan, Rent, A Christmas Carol and Les Miserables. Participating in these productions instills all company members – on and offstage – with confidence, self belief and continuous improvement from an early age as they grow and develop, not only as performers, but in their personal development as individuals. Each Music Theatre company, regardless of age, stages their own fully cast musical at a time most appropriate to them in the annual production calendar. Gospel & Soul Choir
Since 2006, the Gospel and Soul Choir has been an integral part of our class timetable and has become one of our most popular classes. The Gospel and Soul Choir is comprised of individuals from all walks of life and embodies a true community atmosphere as members enjoy harmonising to a wide range of Gospel and Soul favourites every week. The ability to read music is not at all necessary. All that is required is a love of music and a sense of humour! Repertoire includes Oh Happy Day, Something Inside So Strong, You Raise Me Up, Proud, Lean on Me and This Little Light of Mine and new material is added at most rehearsals. We believe that children are never too young to start gaining the social benefits of active participation in the arts. Teeny Talent is aimed at children aged from 2-4 years and parents can elect to remain with their little ones or enjoy some time to themselves as the children explore their creativity through music, storytelling, movement and arts and crafts in a fun, exciting and nurturing environment. Wriggle & Rhyme is our class for babies and toddlers aged from birth to 2 years where children and parents sing and play together in a creative and social atmosphere. Both Teeny Talent and Wriggle & Rhyme run at various times during week days and children can come to any or all sessions without pre-booking. Click and download OUR ACTIVITIES for days and times.
