THE MAGNETS

May 11 2012

The "six man sound machine" The Magnets will visit Ayrshire on Monday, May 21. The Magnets- who have recently returned from touring in Australia, India, Germany and Holland - will perform at Centrestage in Kilmarnock. The gig is one of only two Scottish dates on the group's 2012 UK tour.

The Magnets combine close harmony singing with the beat boxing of vocal percussionist Andy Frost to create an unmistakable sound which has seen them declared a "sonic phenomenon" and led to their Edinburgh Fringe Show completely selling-out in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Their eclectic repertoire includes their own unique interpretation of hits by Adele, Blondie, Fat Boy Slim, Kraftwerk, Bon Jovi, David Bowie and Blur. The group appeared in the T-Mobile flash mob advert and have also been seen on BBC Proms in the Park, Comic Relief and MTV as well as being featured on BBC Radio 2.

To find out what the attraction is about you can listen to and download some sample tracks for free at www.themagnets.bandcamp.com.  As you listen to them, remember that all the sounds you can here are being produced not by instruments but by The Magnets themselves!

The Magnets perform at Centrestage, Kilmarnock on Monday, May 21 from 7.30pm. Bar facilities will be available. Tickets cost £15 and can be obtained from the box office at Centrestage Music Theatre, 11-13 James Little Street, Kilmarnock; by calling 01563 551505 or at www.centrestagemusictheatre.org.uk.
