Centrestage dance troupes Hiplash and Fearless have qualified for the UDO World Street Dance Championships. The dance groups both performed well enough to go on to the next stage when they danced at the UDO Scottish Street Dance Championships at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, Motherwell last Sunday, May 13.

Hiplash (Madilyn Cuthbert, Amy Hopkins, Eilidh McDonald, Lynsey Murray, Susanne Robb, Bethany Ryan, Laura Smith and Jenna Stewart) took 2nd place in the Over 18 Newcomers class with their Chinese dolls routine while Fearless (Scott Jenkinson, Euan Lynch, Fraser McKenzie, David Rae, Kyle Ross, Jordan Ross and David Wood) finished in 5th place in the Under 18 Newcomers category with their James Bond set.

The talented youngsters are choreographed by Marlisa Ross from Kilmarnock's Centrestage Music Theatre. She said: "We are all thrilled to have been placed in our first Scottish street dance championships! It was an amazing experience for the dancers, and we are all really excited about having qualified for the world championships in August."

The UDO World Street Dance Championships, the largest street dance competition in the world, will be held at Blackpool's Winter Gardens from Friday, August 24 to Sunday, August 26. For more information or to book tickets to cheer on Fearless and Hiplash visit www.udostreetdance.com
